I just picked up a 2013 EcoBoost F150. I don't do a lot of deep water crossings, but here in the muddy, rainy southeast there's always the possibility that a normal creek crossing will be higher than you expect. The front axle vent is up by the master cylinder so it's as high as the intake and should be fine. I'm planning on extending the rear axle vent up behind the taillight so that will be good. My last concern is the trans vent that's supposedly on top of the trans, I haven't hunted it down yet. The Raptors from the same years were rated for 30" of water fording but the manual on the normal truck says axle centerline max. I suspect this is just a difference in venting. Current raptors are rated for 32" and run the twin turbos so I'm not overly concerned about dunking them or the wiring for a short crossing.
Has anyone got experience extending the trans vent, or submerging the trans without extending it?
I doubt I'll ever get it that deep but if there's a simple preventative, I'd prefer to take it.
