A bit about this set up:

I built this truck and camper combination to surf and camp in rural Mexico and be comfortable for weeks on end. No expense was spared to make this truck mechanically sound and reliable. I am a building inspector/ engineer by trade and have spent way too many hours and a lot of money fine tuning this set up. I had hoped to take this down the Pan American highway in a few years, but plan have changed. I am moving to the southern hemisphere and can’t bring this with me.

2001 Lance 815 Camper

I bought this camper from an elderly gentleman in October of 2022 in Watsonville who kept it in his barn when not in use. He was the original owner and used it sparingly around North America.

This is the lightest (1,700 pounds dry) and narrowest (68” wide) hard side cabover camper that Lance has ever made. Weight is your enemy when hauling a camper, every modification I have down has kept this in mind by trying to relocate weight forward of the rear axle and as low as possible in the camper. I check all the seams/ re-seal the camper before each winter. This has never had a leak.

I updated the camper with the following systems over the last few years with the goal of camping in Baja for two to three weeks at a time.

It comes with the following amenities stock:

8' camper. Works on long bed or short bed. Under 1,700 pounds dry.

-18 Gallon Water Tank- 6 Gallon Water Heater
-15 Gallon Gray Water Tank
-10 Gallon Black Water Tank

-Propane Heater

-Stove and Oven

-Maxair Fan

-Yakima Roof Racks.

My modifications/ improvements:

-650 Watts of Renogy Flexible Solar Panels adhered to the roof with 3M VHB Tape with self-leveling sealant at the edges.

-200 AH Lithium Ion Battery with Bluetooth BMS system/ app.

-2000 Watt Renogy Inverter

-Victron DC to DC Charger and Victron Solar Controller. Installed with marine grade components, bus bars, correct size wiring, fusing, shrink wrap, etc. (I am a building inspector/ engineer by trade).

-The old air conditioning unit on the roof was removed, and a fantastic, automated fan was installed in it’s stead (you can set the fan to auto turn on at 68 degrees F to maintain temperature in the camper when you are parked or it is not in use). This removes weight from up high and it can run all day and night off the solar/ battery system. This works great with the stock maxair fan (you can set one to suck air in and the other to exhaust air out).

-Guzzle H2O stealth UV and Carbon water filter. Allows you to drink water from the 18 gallon water tank. Fresh filter installed 1/15/26.

-Altered AN-01 Stainless Steel Nozzle Dual Flow Faucet Nozzle. Allows you to wash dish with “mist mode” saving 98 percent of normal water usage. The camper has an 18 gallon water tank so this makes the water last a lot longer.

- The Dometic CRX-1110S Refrigerator (3.8 cubic feet of storage and it runs off of 12v power. This will make ice in the desert, and holds a few weeks of food if packed correctly.

-FROLI mattress system (for ventilation below mattress to prevent mildew and a more comfortable night sleep). On top of this is a California King Organic 6” Yoga Bed. Why haul around a cabover camper if you aren’t getting an amazing night of sleep?

-I put a trasharoo on the lower portion of the ladder to haul fire wood in and trash out. It’s got some sun damage but is still fully functional.

Issues with camper:

One of the burners had it’s knob/ valve broken off. It doesn’t leak gas but you can’t use the burner. Never bothered me as there are still two functioning burners. I have a spare wedge vision stove to poach parts off of, just haven’t found the time to do it yet.

The driver side rear rear tie down point was damaged in Baja years ago (there are two tie down points on each rear side). I have since added porch swing 500 lb. springs to the front two rear tie down to allow more give in the system. Since then there have been on issues.

Location: Los Osos, CA

I am willing to sell the camper separate from the truck.

Update: Just did front brake pads, new wipers and new starting battery this past weekend. Also installed a new carbon filter in the guzzle H20 system. Will be doing an oil change and tire rotation this coming weekend. Truck/ camper is ready to go. Have responded to all messages.

Here are a few interior shots of the cab. Was also asked about steps into the camper, been using a hitch mounted step, solid and no need to store it in the camper while underway. Last photo is the Anderson plug for the DC to DC charging of the camper.
