2014 My Year in Review

A few days ago I put together a quick album of what I though my best photos of 2014 were. But then after watching your video, it really made me think about what "best" means. Yes, unquestionably, I selected my best photographs based on image quality, lighting, symmetry, rule of thirds, etc... but does that tell the story of the how I spent my year? Most definitely it does not.
This year marks my first full year on Instagram, and as I reviewed my "story of 2014" I noted that many of my favorite images are just quick snap shots in the moment, shared to Instagram. Not great photos by any measure, but memorable for me, and marking significant events and milestones in the journey that was 2014. This past year was kind of a hard year for me. I felt a bit like a financial hermit, unable to go out like in times past, because I simply didn't have the gas money to do so. But as I look through my IG account, I really did manage to have a great year despite, or perhaps because of those challenges. It made the things we did do that much more special to us.
At the moment, I don't really have a gallery that shows my favorite moments of 2014, but here is my gallery of "best photos" of 2014:

The Testament exhibit was a show honoring a former co-worker of mine - Chris Hondros, a Getty photographer was killed in Libya and his finance put together a book and show.
My daughter had a septic appendectomy - we were camping when she called us, I dropped the rest of the family off and drove through the night to get to the hospital in time for her to be released.
