2014+ Tundra full coverage front bumpers?

My Tundra suffered a bit of damage the other day. No injuries sustained, but a 60mph departure from a highway due to black ice has lead to some front bumper damage (98% of this due to carelessness of tow truck driver), as well as some minor body damage to p-side fender and door. Very minor considering what could have been. Guys who hit the ditch opposite side of the highway had their truck (and boat) written of.

Insurance will cover repairs, but given the use of the truck, and the number of deer, elk etc dead on the highway here, I’m thinking I should take the opportunity and upgrade to a full bullbar bumper. I love the ARB, but am willing to look at other options. I’ve contacted Coastal Offroad since they apparently have a full tubing option, but have yet to see any photos of one.

I would love to see any other options you guys know of?

When you say full coverage, I'm guessing you want something like this? The one below is a Fab 4, but there are many others. I like the style of the ARB, but don't know much about any of them.

I do wonder about the wisdom of a stout front bumper vs stock design which is specifically made to absorb shock on impact. The stout bumper would provide more protection for parts of the front end... until you get to the point where you are bending the truck's frame. And if it's a high impact you'll be transmitting more G-force to occupants. High price and surely a highway mpg hit too. Pros and cons.

@rruff - Yes, the full coverage is what you guessed. The nice thing about the ARB is they are engineered to work with the trucks crumple zones etc, and intended to absorb large impacts from say a head on collision the same way as stock, while protecting the truck from deer (or kangaroo) strikes. I presume they still are engineering them this way. Thanks for the link though, as that place has ARBs on for way less than the other places I’ve seen!

The giant “chin” look is not my thing, and I grew up in the era of GI Joe, not “Transformers”, so a lot of the new style things (like the “angry” jeep grills) just don’t suit.

I’m taking the truck to the body shop today, and depending on how much the replacement parts for the whole bumper and p-side mirror are (I have a mirror arriving Monday as I need that now), I will get them to include the new bumper in the repair job.

I always say "Toys were made for tube," but that's the best choice of the box-type bumpers, I think, or the newer WARN Ascent line.

I have a diamond plate Fab4 with a prerunner hoop on my '07 the p/o chose, and I am entirely "meh" on it. It's not quite a big-chin Iron Cross but awfully darn close and not as nicely fabbed or finished as an ARB. I can also plainly say I don't care for the diamond plate look on anything newer than a 2nd gen pickup.

One thing no one mentions about these overbuilt front pieces, though, is that they suck to keep clear of snow, so I hope you have a garage. I don't; we're up to 42" in 11 days, and I'm over it.

I've got the tundra ARB bumper on a 2016. Love it. You won't regret it.

This is another option local to me. It’s not full coverage, but it looks good I think. Saw their Tacoma version in person today, and it’s nicely built for sure!

I would look for something light. The more protection the more weight. An ARB at the very least is going to require you to adjust your 5100s. You may want a stiffer spring.

The ARB is +/- 240 lbs, which while a fair bit of weight, is basically like having a big dude sitting on the front. My suspension does not move at all when I stand on the front of the truck, and I’m only 40 lbs less. I would try it as is and see how I like it. Some of the other options I’m looking at are about 100 lbs less than ARB.

Wow, much lighter than most. They even sell an aluminum option that's only 60 lbs! Or I guess, 70 or so for full coverage. No pics on a 2.5 gen, but this is what full coverage looks like on a 1st gen.
