The website states that the truck is available in an XtraCab and dual cab. If I had way more money, I would get the flatbed dual cab model and swap plates/ vin codes with my truck... Mine, all mine.

Hey, cool! Does Toyota have a more in-depth build your own site? I didn't even know the B-Max package existed until I stumbled upon it one day on a dealer page...they don't list it on their website..at least nothing I can find.

Yeah, definitely a better option for the romantic types.
I admit I love revolvers and steel framed bicycles, so a bit of a romantic myself. I've actually thought about scrapping the DCLB idea and getting a Reg cab, 5-sp. as a solo outing rig, leaving the fam behind. Then guilt sets in...

I see XtraCabs (and really anything similar Double Cab, Access, etc.) like 29'ers. A personal "a-ha" moment. No way I'm going back to a 26" wheeled bike either... Vinyl floors, like steel frames, are for real.

Fatbikes are the "new" thing ha ha ha I have 3 (all steel). Back on topic...
I want a Manual Trans, Manual T-Case, Vinyl Floors and No Power anything. I need a quad cab long bed but want a reg cab like I have now. A wife and 2 dogs, nope, that doesn't fit in a reg cab. I'm stuck driving an old Jeep GC when we travel because I can't deal with a tiny little bed for DD use. I use my truck bed all the time, all 6 feet of it.
What it comes down to is the majority of people don't want what we want so no one sells a vehicle aimed at the 3%ers. I think this was referenced to like 6 pages back. I've never had an auto hub fail on any of my Toyota trucks. The fords I've owned have all eaten hubs at some point. Not a fan of the electric shift T-Cases but if you use them often and shift in and out low and not fill thew with water, they can be reliable. I haven't even set up 2 low on my current truck yet, haven't needed to but it is mighty handy for moving heavier trailers. So that's where the manual hubs are really nice.
Anyway, I'm curious but not all that sure I'll be impressed. Most likely will end up in an 05-08 Access cab with 50k or so miles. They are out there and they have the least amount of nannies on them but big enough for me to get by with. Should have kept my 08 from the buy back but it felt so cheaply built...

I have no idea what I will end up with, I was picking the Trooper up from the mechanic today (I didn't have time to fix it) there was '74 F250 Highboy sitting there, looked just like my '76 I had, the wife goes why we just don't get one of those for the 3rd vehicle? Really!? I said. She fires back..."F" yeah I would totally drive that beast... ahh ok! It would Save me $20K+

I have been swaping back and forth between Toyota Trucks and OBS Fords. It all depended on where I was living at the time and how much firewood and building material I had to move. More than once I had both trucks and I'm driving a Tacoma now because it's never in the shop and with a small trailer, it does 90% of what I want to do. It does 100% of my needs but sometimes I wish I had a fullsize for other bigger projects. Then I remember working on my truck more than driving it. So the Toyota stays in the driveway.
If the new Tacoma is utilitarian enough, I'll buy a brand new truck when the time comes. Is it January yet?

I have been kinda of waiting to see what the 3rd gen Tacoma brings...the wait has been so long, I think I am kinda over it. I haven't had a vehicle payment for 20 years...was planning on paying cash for a new one. Funny thing...once you can afford to do that...it makes a person a tight wad, at least for me it does. I use my '02 Trooper as my commuter, the Tacoma has become the home depot, hauling dog, camp rig, moto carrier. It sits mostly. We bought a house under a mile from the college where wife works...when it is nice she rides her bicycle.
We are looking for another 4WD vehicle to add as backup vehicle, since the Trooper is only RWD...so my thought is just buy something used and keep them in rotation as they break. We did that when we had the VW Westy...worked well for us.
So the 3rd vehicle could be the dedicated travel rig...would be nice to have something bigger...since I tend to bring a lot of gear...mountain bikes, dirt bikes...adding kayaks to that mix as well. So either a fullsize late model like a Tundra...or go the cool route with something vintage.
Still kinda waiting to see what the Taco will be...think I have myself talked out of new truck though.
