I once I hired some "auto detailer" off of craigslist. He showed up in a massively lifted 1st gen taco with a canopy packed to the brim. Watching him crawl in and out of that bed taking all of his detailing gear out... power washer, steam cleaner, hoses, water proof bluetooth radio, vape, prep table was hilarious. It took him like 30 minutes alone to " set up " Looking at the pics of this truck brought that fond memory back. Thank you for that

OP,
I thought you said you were keeping it?
Why is this thread still going on then?
Whatever you do, good luck.

Since the pictures are talking I have a few questions…

picture of tubular bracing under bed: Can you explain the zip tied piece on the tubular frame and why there’s a $15 Home Depot air shim bag between the frame and bed?

picture of rear suspension: any comment on the rust or overcut hole into the side of the bed? Seems like something bad happened and it’s a great spot to get car cancer.

I’m waiting for the “Oh and it has a vacuum bagged oven baked carbon fiber bed not the Original Toyota plastic bed”” Curious is the “boxed Frame was welded up with everything attached to the frame??
Haha! No I made some super ugly fiberglass covers and sprayed them With a rhino liner rattle can they are hideous but did the job. I’m actually pulling them off as we speak and making something different and a bit more easy on the eyes. But they sure do look like vacuum seal bags!

The Home Depot shim bag is to get into the truck in case I lock the keys inside. I left the keys inside while dogs in there and they hit the lock button ultimately locking mer out. I always have a spare close by but it must have fallen off while en route somewhere Offroad. The tubular frame was for the 4 link Suspension and also a storage box we were going to install underneath for recovery gear. Accessible from the bed under when the fridges were pulled out. Never went through with that idea. The rust cut hole is not rust. It’s silicone where I filled in a little cut into the fiberglass bed frame where the sway bar kissed it while testing out the suspension initially.

Well this thread went south pretty quick....

Any upgrades to accommodate the extra power/torque from the supercharger?
Did not have to re-gear as I never have tires bigger than 35’s. The bulldog tuner handles everything else with the computer etc. Transmission is strong. Never had any issues mechanically ever. I have every receipt from regular scheduled maintenance from the truck shop in SD. I really don’t like to beat on the vehicle. The supercharger was for the added weight to the vehicle. Not for pinning it and going fast.

Agreed! I like those amenities believe me! But I prefer to go where you couldn’t and sleep in a tent on the ground.

Wow your a bit of a ass lol sorry but I’m sure you would be stuck in the first 4’ snow drift you came across and the tent would get old in the snow rain sleet and mud . Comparing your rig to a earthromer issilly Sense they are two completely different things built for different reasons . One is for weekend/week trips one is for living out of for months at a time .

Also when I mention “efficiency“ let’s see you go to some of the places I go to with my truck. I spend most of my time in BAJA. Since I was a wee lil boy and I will bet my pink slip you couldn’t do it.

Don’t stock Volkswagen bugs race the Baja 1000? I don’t know if you know this but being a jerk to people is often not a good way to sell a vehicle. You’re asking an asinine amount of money for a vehicle with 160 K on the odometer people are going to have questions, so the better tactic might be to answer them in a polite manner stating the facts about your vehicle or maybe you should’ve put up all of your upgrades in a list at the beginning of the post .

Vehicles do cost more in California..the Golden state (y)
Not really
Buyers here lots of them especially when financing is easy and cheap simply pay too much. I would say that very few people here fall into the pay too much category given the discourse, experience and awareness most members here have.

Forgiven me if you think I am being a jerk. I’m just extremely honest and most people can’t handle it because they are too sensitive. Yes stock VW bugs do race the Baja 1000. I have actually don’t it, twice. probably one of the best classes by far but less than 1% finish. Also, I might add that my responses are to the asinine questions and accusations most people here have. I simply stated to DM me for questions as the list is way to large to go into detail. Considering the suspension on my truck is upwards toward 25K I’m content with my asking price, especially since the given blue book value bone stock and also the receipts I have of the build exceeding 100k (Including buying the truck brand new off the lot). Thank you for your interest and I hope you well!
