2017 F-150 build...Everyone meet Walter White

Buddha.

Finally in expo white.
Little update for you all. I am chasing down a creaking noise in my Deavers. I have no idea what it is coming from. It seems like I can only hear it when I'm going slow and the bumps are small. Definitely a creaking, not a squeaking. The bushing seem to be lubed properly and nothing visually is wrong. I jacked it up from the rear and sprayed water in between then hoping to clear out any debris. While the springs were wet there is no noise, but when they dry it comes back.

I spoke with the guys at Deaver and they said the shackle bolts are too tight. I sent them a video of what is going on and they said it sounds dry and tight. Confirmed it is not dry. The RPG shackles are to be torqued to like 163 foot pounds I think it is and Deaver said no more than 60 pounds which doesn't make sense to me.

Before I spray the leafs with some type of dry lube, I think I'm going to take it back to the shop that did the work and have them figure it out. But doing that adds a whole element of logistics with work and kids and all that.
163 foot pounds seems like a lot.

I had creaking and then it just kind went away. I treated them with fluid film and "seated" them by driving hard. When you go with aftermarket parts you sometimes have torque spec miscompares; I think the U-bolt issue I had last year... uh I mean 2023, was because stock u-bolts are a lower torque than the aftermarket ones. Best of luck!

Life update for anyone who cares.

Deavers still making noise, learned to live with it. Day tripping to AB this weekend to get them to bounce a good amount in hopes they settle. Desert will be mid 90's so I'm excited for some heat.

I have two stellar leads on some OBS Fords, one is a 250 and the other is a 350. Both have the 460 gas motor, low mileage. I have wanted one since 6th grade when my teacher, Mr. Patton (who was scary AF back in the day), bought one brand new. It was a 96 F350, white, crew cab, 7.3. I vividly remember it and talking to him about it with trembling knees. Anyways, the 350 I have a lead on is also a 96, white, crew cab so it makes me want it even more.

But I cant do it right now.

1. We have some major expenses coming up at the house for a remodel for more room and quite the landscape project for the backyard
2. With the market dropping I am deploying.

That is all.

Best of luck, stay safe. I'm glad I'm collecting a pension right now, too much worry about the draft being required and mandatory enlistment extensions on the horizon makes me real worried.
Where are you hearing this? Is it internal military chatter?

I still have my people. Extended enlistments are a thing right now. Draft is not on the docket, but its something people are low key talking about.

oh, lol. I meant I am deploying my cash into the market haha

My bad. Good call. I'm selling a rental right now because my business partner wants out. I plan on dropping it all into the market once the deposit hits.

Took my truck in to get some new brake pads before the trip this weekend and it turned into a new axle seal on the passenger side. Yet another expensive repair.

I also have some gear oil leaking out of the grommet where the wire for my E locker goes into the top of the differential. With the amount of droop I have when fully jacked up/on a lift, I think it somehow separated the grommet allowing the fluid to leak out. I didnt have the issue prior to having the Deavers installed. I don't plan on doing much this weekend in the desert as the whole family is going and were staying at the resort in Borrego but it still is a little concerning. There was a little leak I saw before getting the new brakes but now there is significantly more. I am assuming it's just due to the fact that the gear oil is new and topped off so some is splashing out when driving.

Oh, I also found a great deal on a OVS awning on Market Place that I am picking up today. Got some of the Leitner Designs awning mounts to hold it up. Should come in handy this weekend when we do the wildflower viewing. 100% did not need one but it was $100 so I thought why not.

This is the little bugger that is letting the oil leak out. It’s definitely the grommet. It’s enough to notice, but small enough amount to be able to feel ok going out this weekend. I’ll still keep an eye on it, of course.

It seems to be less and less coming out as I drive more after the diff got filled up with gear oil. I bought some gear oil RTV gasket sealer that I am going to bring as a last ditch effort in case it really starts to pour out but I don’t think it will get to that.
