I was in a similar situation about 3.5 yrs ago. I have a Dodge 3500 and occasionally towed a 30' gooseneck trailer (which wasn't mine). I built my bed rack with keeping it easily removable in mind but honestly once it's on and situated I have never wanted to take it off and never have. I found other ways to get around the gooseneck issue (borrowed a friends truck a few times, and now have hay delivered for a small fee) and that trailer isn't even in the picture anymore.

Figure out what your top 3 uses for the truck are and the order of their priority and build to that. Just about any setup can be undone in a few hours so it'll all depend on how badly you want to tow that trailer.

I am going to try a camper top, which is not the route I was thinking. But I am going to give it try it will come equipped with racks for a canopy/cargo. Trying to figure my bumper situation out now.

You made the right call imho. You can always buy a FWC and swap them out when needed down the line. Did you go with an ARE or Snugtop? It looks great too!
