2017 Power Wagon models

The online configuration web pages for Ram 2500 crew cab pickups shows that the Power Wagon package is available with 5.7L gas, 6.4L gas, and 6.7L diesel engines, and with manual transmission.

So you don’t have to buy the official Power Wagon model to take advantage of the components that give the PW its off-road capabilities. Interesting!

Choose Build and Price, then select Crew Cab 4x4, then look at Packages to find the Power Wagon option.

If you want to buy the official Power Wagon, here’s the web page

Kind of misleading, when you select the PW Package, it forces changing to 6.4L and 6sp auto like normal.

You're correct. I swear I could choose the Diesel engine with Power Wagon package this afternoon. But this evening the configuration forces me to select the 6.4L gas engine with automatic trans. Sigh...

At least you can choose the Power Wagon package with the Tradesman trim. That will save $7500 over the regular Power Wagon, which is loaded with high dollar electronics and leather seating.

The Ram build site is wrong sometimes,I was able to select a 4.10 diff. when I was looking in 14,the reality was 3.42 was my only option. Some options change what you can get as well,as RPS mentioned.

Cool trick, never played with that so I selected a plain-Jane Tradesman (won't give the option in SLT), construction site white crew cab. The option runs just under $8k and priced out to $44,065.

Keep in mind when I was deciding on whether to buy the current Ram 1500 QC 4x4 versus sticking with another Toyota I saw the same type of issue when I couldn't get into the base SR5 group with specific options I wanted because the site options changed.

It's likely a supply/demand deal or they just caught us looking and took it away? I can't complain, the Cummins is a solid engine but having driven a CC equipped with a 5.7 and another CC with the 6.4 I'll say the boy in me wants the diesel but realistically the 6.4 works fine, and I know plenty of companies and contractors who also are fine with the 6.4.

This also isn't actually new. My 2016 is a Tradesman Power Wagon, worked out nice to get the basic black grill, and just a few niceties (power window/lock, moderate radio w/ backup camera, and all the other nice cubbies, etc). There were 3 trim levels available, Tradesman PW, Power Wagon (basically SLT), and Laramie PW.

And yes, my couple of JK buddies have been saying, "Wait, you get the same lockers, but in 1 ton axles and a big V8 for the same money, and don't have to drop another 10-15k"
