Getting kinda Pirate4x4 in here. It's hard not to be opinionated on this stuff. I hate walking 5 miles off road and then hitch hiking with a bubba that won't stop looking at my legs.

Oh, and white is the best color for everything. Black wheels, bumpers, etc. etc. This is expo portal after all.

Oops, wrong thread, sorry.

Stiffer frames are not what other more technologically advanced builders are doing.

In America it seems like biggest/baddest is all that clients care about. Truck owners want to spend 100k and in return they want Harley leather seats, assist parking, 1000hp, 1500tq and massive obnoxious front ends. So the boxed frame is the next logical evolution... but it makes no sense. Frame flex is not a bad thing.

I would like my frame galvanized. Rust seems to kill 100x as many frames as stress. Would be great with the aluminium body to have a matching "lifetime" frame.

Oh well, if I end up with one I will waxoyl it when new.

Did I mention I really, really hate corrosion?

Actually I recommend letting it rust. Once it's got a nice coating then POR15 or Monstaliner Chassis saver it. The frames are so thick that a little attention to the frame will allow it to last forever. It would be awesome to see a Melonite Nitride finish applied to frames, but getting the EPA to approve large scale use of that would be tough on the US.

Isn't that how they do it on large ships? Epoxy paint like POR15 on a slightly rusted hull. Every new ship I see being built is rusty. I don't think they scrub all that off.

Do what I did, move out of the salt belt...corrosion worries all but goes away. ;)

Freight liner is using aluminum frames...not a new idea though, Mack used it years and years ago in their Western "R" series trucks. "RL" stood for aluminum frame.
