Unless you want to buy a bunch of them and have the nhtsa crash them and then spend the money to get the engine certified. Until then we'll just have to dream and wait.

There are quite a number of substandard vehicles driven in New Mexico from Mexico. The license plate and of course models not available in U.S. really stand out. Really small ones stand out. As long as you have a valid passport you are good to go.

I mean if we're talking about not exactly legal stuff then I wouldn't think you'd have a big problem, just the newest montero in the US

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
When I get my new Montero Sport I'm going to make a bunch of crappy wheeling videos.

Check out this one!...I just bought it down in Dallas, TX. 2005....cherry condtion!.. Only 90k miles... 2005 Montero Ltd. Midnight Black...with Charcoal leather interior. New VisionWarrior 17 x 8" cast wheels. I averaged just about 19.6 miles per gallon on drive back here to Asheville, NC. I have had 3 other Monteros...2 in Panama...another...an 2003 XLS up here... I had the XLS for 13 yrs!.. bought it for 23, 500....sold it for 4,500. Probably could have got more!.. Anyhooooo.... On my recent 2005 unit... I had to look literally "nationwide" search via CarGurus...Cars.com... etc. Ya really gotta shop around to find a good deal. Now this vehicle was not cheap... cost me 9900.00 but I plan on keeping it until...YES!.. Mitsubishi finally( might take 10 yrs!??_)...brings back the US-version of the beautiful new Monteros here...and not just in the rest of the developed world!.. heres a few pics....and it IS...Black!!

FYI, here is what I've read:

"Mexican plated cars are allowed into the USA for up to 1 year. It is easy to get the minimum required liability insurance coverage, but can be challenging to find insurance coverage to pay for collision damages to your car."
