Alright Gents. I figured I would start a build page. Last time I did one was when I did a solid axle swap on 37"s on my 1993 Ford Explorer when I was 17.
Two years ago I bought a Gen2 Ford Raptor with the intentions of having a daily commuter that was pretty ************ and could take off road and fit the family of 4 comfortably. At about 30,000 miles I had multiple engine warranty problems and decided to return the truck. A good friend of mine put me onto the power wagon so I did some research and decided to buy one. So here we start.
My intention is still somewhat the same. I have two young children that I want to start introducing to camping. Also before I spend a lot of time or money building a sweet trailer I decided to build a rack and run a RTT to make sure we as a family will enjoy camping. I own an electrical sign shop which has a full aluminum fabrication capabilities. With that we have a lot of drop/scrap aluminum that I pile up and then use to build parts.
The Power Wagon comes pretty stacked off the production line. Until there is some significant tire size increases I don't feel that it is necessary to do anything to the drive train. Full lockers, winch and sway bar disconnects. 33" tires. I'll run these until its time to replace them then its time too look to 40"s.
I just finished building the frame for my rack and purchased a used RTT here on the classifieds. I had never TIG welded before. I know how to Stick and MIG weld so I used this rack as a project to teach myself how to run the TIG welder. Other than that I will update as the truck progresses.
