I think not. They've confirmed that it does not share sheetmetal with the Everest above, that it is true body on frame and 4 wheel drive. I agree it won't get a stick axle up front but I don't think it will matter for capability.
As I said before, I'd be happy with the Everest for my needs (body on frame, 4wd, torsen rear end, tows well, comfy and capable) but an Everest wouldn't be the Jeep fighter they keep saying they want. I think you'll see something that looks like a cross between the last FJ and the original Bronco. I think there will be 4 doors initially with a 2 door model coming later. I also wouldn't be surprised to see removable tops in the near future but I don't think the first launch will have them.
