2020 Defender 110 Eiger Grey overland build

Changed oil for the first time at 3500 miles. Pretty easy with a top suction oil changer. But the oil filter cap is really small and I didn't have the correct size. Used a big adjustable jaw wrench with gentle pressure. Will buy the correct size before the next change.

I did see a bunch of metal flakes in the filter elements. New engine is bound to have some extra wear but the oil looked clean.

Took a week long trip into Baja. Crossed at Tecate, to Guadalupe Valley wine region, Ensenada, Catavina, Guerrero Negro for some amazing whale watching, BOLA for fishing, Gonzaga Bay and then home thru Mexicali. 2300 miles! Truck was awesome with 5 people and gear packed in, but I do wish it had more space in the rear. More than my range rover but less than my LR3.

Baja is such a vast playground. Very few people and tons of places to explore. We camped at Campo Esmeralda on the Pacific coast and had a mile of open beach all to ourselves. They have flush toilets and even a shower. All this for $10 a night. It is about 40 minutes north of Guerrero Negro with the turn off right at the military checkpoint.

Tires are General X3, 265/70 R18s. Stock is 255/70 r18. I've heard of 275s fitting, but I didn't want to trim or rub on access height.

Are you running a rod lift at all and if so, what height and do you run it full time?

I know you have owned several rovers. I have owned an LR3, LR4, 2008 L322, and 2012 L322. How does the defender compare? I am ordering a similar P300 build this week and I am curious how it compares. I have been kicking around a defender or an LR3 with cash for mods. I just think the defender is an amazing vehicle but have not lived with one.

I have ordered a P300 Tasmin blue with a white roof 2022 Defender inspired by this build. The only upgrades are all of the offroad options and the tow package. I am really excited! This will be my fifth rover and first new one. I hope I can run 265/70 R18 Cooper ST Maxxx's on those steelies.

Thanks! I am pumped. I am wondering if 275/60 will fit because I have always wanted the stt pro's. Even though the st maxx's are an awesome tire for east tn.

I ran STT Pros on my 200 series for about a year and gave up. Amazing off-road tire but very very noisy.

Good to see it’s being used as intended.

from my drive of a D240 SE last August in-between lockdowns, I found the boot size to be my only real complaint of the car.

It’s larger than my Freelander 2s which has a shockingly small boot, but isn’t as massive as the D3s.

Are you going to get any rock sliders or such for it in time?

Finally got her out for some more trail duty in Death Valley with my daughter. D110 did great offroad and soaks up the washboards. Steel pass was a tight squeeze as she is a bit wider than the other rovers I've driven thru.

Tested out the new Overland Pros Baja clamshell tent. Comfortable and sets up in less than a minute. I can still store pillows and sleeping bag up top. The rain fly zips off which really helps when the wind picks up.
