Pros and cons of a 2020+ Frontier?

How's the legit overall mpg?

Standard with a 3.8L V6 engine

310 horsepower
281 lb-ft of torque
9-speed automatic transmission

Was the 2020 model the first year of the 3.8L?

They had it for one year in the old body style not sure what year that was. Look like pretty cool trucks to me

Pros and cons of a 2020+ Frontier?

Checked Consumer Reports, and they give it good scores for reliability. Their MPG average was 18... so wouldn't expect much there. Fuelly is a good site for comparisons.

EDIT: I was curious so looked it up on Fuelly. Avg MPG is ~18.5 vs ~19.5 for a Ranger.

Mine has been a great truck, no issues, plenty of power in the mountains and decent gas mileage. Interior is probably a little dated compared to others and did not come with car play. I find the king cab to be roomy and the seats comfortable. The console design is lacking and not the best. Mine is an SV and is low tech which I prefer. The ride is comfortable, and the handling is fine. I looked at Tacomas and they were more money with a 100000 more miles.

coming of age in the 80's, 310hp from an affordable V6 in a compact truck is hilarious to me - way more than ferraris and corvettes of the time

heck, I think my 4.7 V8 Tundra has 240?

I think I remember the first pre-Tacoma Toyota truck with a V6 had 150, and they thought it might be too much power for a small truck

I have a 2022, new body style with 3.8L and 9 speed continued from 2020. I've found it to be a nice truck for not too much $. Strong and smooth engine, always over 20 mpg except when towing. Useful Tow Mode. Downsides are low payload, small gas tank and mirrors. I needed to get a camera to see behind my small travel trailer.

I'm looking at the mid sized truck market......to buy a used truck this month

The Frontier seems good, but the back seat legroom is a concern......

The Canyon/Colorado back seat legroom seems alittle larger

Back seat room is considerably less than my previous F150. I don't think an adult would be comfortable for any length of time. I'd be surprised if any competitor would have much more, there's only so much space in small trucks.

I had a 2012 Frontier and currently have a 2023 Frontier. I think they're great. The 3.8 v6 and 9 speed transmission are reliable and the truck doesn't feel slow. Gas mileage isn't amazing but its a truck. Interior isn't luxurious but again, truck. I'm with @mountainsports2002 I bought an "S" trim crew cab because it didn't come with all the extra's.

The back seat isn't large but it really isn't bad. My wife (5'8") and I (5'10) have swapped sitting in the back on road trips to entertain a toddler. A lumbar pillow makes all the difference in the world and cost all of $10.
