2020 Tundra TRD Pro Build

This is my 2020 TRD Pro Tundra build. It's just a pickup truck, but I hope it will take me somewhere amazing one day. I was between this and a Tacoma build, but my daughter took the Taco, so I here I am with this full size beast. It is longer, taller, and heavier than I would have liked for a rig, but let's make the most of it and see what we can do and where it can take us.IMG_6849.jpg

Here it is pulling my camper that was way too heavy for it. She is squatted a little.

Ok, so it is too long, too tall, and too heavy. Also, there is almost no ground clearance with all this weight. Trying to keep up with Jeeps and 4Runners through the Uhwarrie National Forest is not as easy as I had hoped in a full size truck.

Back at Asheville Vehicle Outfitters for a few things. Firstly this thing needs some ground clearance, so we are going with a 6" suspension lift that lets me keep some of the factory TRD Pro suspension components. That should be just about enough to get her to where she needs to be with regards to ground clearance. Still have a few more surprises coming along this week, stay tuned.

Does anyone know of a good company than can do a wrap on a full size truck in the Western North Carolina area?

Suspension lifts can enable steeper approach, departure, and breakover angles, higher ground clearance, and helps accommodate larger wheels and tires.

I was waiting to mention the 37's until I had a picture of them on the truck. But, hopefully tomorrow or Saturday I get to pick it up.

At Uhwarrie we were having issues getting high centered and dragging the rock sliders and skid plates a lot more than I would have liked. I am hoping between the lift and the tires that I will be getting everything up and out of the way as much as I can.

I’m on 285/75R18 tires on the factory Pro suspension. Gained about 1.5” of clearance. But if I spent more time off-road, I’d go to 37s, too. You’ll probably want to re-gear to 5.29s or maybe 4.88s. Throw a rear locker (front too, why not lol), and you’ll have lots of fun.

A 6” lift adds no ground clearance Maybe some breakpoint but that’s it. What size tires are you going to?

A bit more nuanced than that....especially on an IFS rig, on the front it will increase as long as the it's not all diff drop.....rear axle is not more (to your point), but frame rails and other drivetrain components are increased by the corresponding lift height....
