2021 F250 Godzilla Build

It's easier to get a stripped down Ford than it is to piece meal the options you want because they are notorious for requiring certain packages and trim levels simply to attain certain options. Their build sheets are absolute madness. A comparable RAM is and likely will always be slightly cheaper than a Ford. I see a lot of the 7.3L gasser Tremor's in my AO, more than the diesel version by far.
Ford will nickel and dime you to death, base stuff on ram trucks or simple options on rams are weird add on packages on fords, I’ve see loaded lariat trucks for 80k without heated seats.

I'm not so sure about that. About the only thing I could not get with the XL build and 445 CI gas engine was the 3:73 locker. If you are looking for a basic extended cab truck without all the unnecessary fluff then this can be a great bargain.

I don't want to get into the "Ford is better than Chrysler/Fiat" only because this is about a gentleman's build on a Ford platform. Heck I'm a GM truck guy since a teenager. I'm willing to bet these Ford rigs with a simple 7.3 liter pushrod motor and the already great chassis are going to get to be a very popular build option for many.
I’ve owned allot of ram trucks, all have been awesome and problem free, ram builds a great truck, they do have a undeserved reputation from past generations. Ford builds a good truck also, the 7.3, 10 speed and the room and gear options are the only reason I switched to a ford. I think ford has a great idea with a simple gas big block without a ton of crap ( mds) and simple cheap maintenance. GM on the other hand, they have build total junk since the mid 2000’s.

on the internet there are allot of 7.3 gas builds going on now, I wish ram would have beat Ford to it and produced the 426 hemi that was rumored for hd trucks.

You're entitled to your opinion, but it's wrong haha. I've built and owned four Super Duties in the past decade and purchased multiple fleet groups for company trucks in the past, Ford is a PITA if you want certain options, see the OP's reply below for further confirmation.

Exactly.

I have a lot of love for Ford, I still consider myself more of a Ford guy than a RAM guy even though my current and last HD truck were both RAM's. RAM has come a long way in the past five or so years and is definitely nipping at the heels of Ford, GM is so far behind it's sad. I think you made a smart move on your current truck, especially if you aren't towing any longer. I've had my 3500 CTD for almost eight full weeks now and it's only been hooked up once since I brought it home.

If it was me... I would get an XL with the STX package. That gets you some creature comforts with out being a luxury vehicle with a bed. It will also get you the latest version of Sync which has many handy feature.

Sadly that is true. I am very fortunate that my 94 Silverado lasted over 300,000 miles with only major issue being a transmission at about 100,000 miles. My 05 GMC Sierra is so far so good. Of course it is a bare bones base model.

Now back to the build please and that awesome 7.3 monster motor!!

VERY NICE build Breden!! So all I was looking at on your truck was the pictures of the King shocks you installed. And of course I used the name of the suspension companies "component type" without having a clue to the setup other than shocks. Wow!! I have been looking at what truck to buy next after my 1500 Sierra dies.

Carli's shop is local to me and that setup you have is nothing short of amazing. I watched a few YouTube videos on your truck and suspension. You are doing it right!! I have been a GM guy all my life but the trucks are having more and more issues as the new model years come in.

Ford is using an old school pushrod big block with none of the fuel management crap to fail. For anyone wanting a reliable and stout overland vehicle I would highly recommend this. Sure the fuel mileage is not very good. OTOH it has stump pulling power and very good stock running gear and chassis. This makes for a great platform. I have been doing a lot of research on my next truck and I think this would be it.

And if you are smart you can get this rig under 50 grand if you get the basic XL without all the stupid options. I did a build on the Ford website and with 7.3, 4:33 lockers, 370 amp alt/dual battery it comes in at around 48,000.00.

I have subscribed to this build I'm excited to see more pictures and you complete setup!!
Exactly why I went the route I did. Gas motor simplicity, great motor for the intended use and who doesn't like a big block!

Nice! Only reason I sold my 20 f250 7.3 is what they were offering for it…….. and giving me the room /time/ money to start an 01 excursion build ;)

Not to pile on with the GM bashing but here in Utah, where you see a lot of people pulling horse trailers and hay and the like, you see almost exclusively Superduty's PSD's and Ram CTD's. There is a Silverado HD sprinkled in here and there.

Ford gasser HD's I have a really hard time looking past the 7.3L/10 speed combo. Maybe if GM put the 10 speed behind the 6.6L the playing field might be more level, but with the 6 speed its just not even in the same ballpark. The 7.3L runs circles around it power wise and according to Fuelly.com is on par or slightly better in terms of MPG's.

One thing i like about ford is the different gear options, I’ve read a few posts about the 7.3. With 3:55 gears, getting about 2 mpg better than the 4:30 gears, if your wanting better fuel economy. The 7.3, 10 speed and 4:30 gears to be is about the perfect combo, tons of low end torque.

Nice 250!

Guys, as to Ford sticking to ya, would you be better off taking a base model, XL and the engine you wanted then do all your mods with after market stuff?

Is that base 101 group of options the better way and then do the rest after market?
