Happy to hear the Ford is giving you many trouble free off-road miles, are there any shortcomings or things you'd change or upgrade now you've had a good few off-road adventures?

The factory halogen headlights are worse than the headlights on my first vehicle, a 1988 Suzuki Samurai. Okay, maybe not but they are truly abysmal. I'll upgrade to a set of Morimoto's at some point. The seats are large and okay-ish but certainly not well bolstered or ergonomic. I'm not investing the money to swap them out but it is disappointing that they're not more comfortable. Other upgrades I'll make at some point include a heavy duty offroad bumper (very likely an Expedition One), a winch, the Carli upper and lower steering stabilizers and if I can ever find any, a set of burly skid plates. The bumper and winch aren't a shortcoming of the truck, just insurance really. The steering stabilizers should help to prevent a little bit of wander on the highway but honestly, it's not *that* bad. Skid plates are also insurance.

I've had the truck for almost two years now and aside from the headlights, the few complaints I have are minor. It's been a great rig, extremely capable, mostly comfortable, super reliable and IMHO, damn good looking. I have no regrets.

+1 for Morimoto XB LED headlights, loving mine.
Feel free to PM me about skid plates; I can offer some advice on which brand NOT to get and why.

Good to hear re: the Morimoto headlights. Nearly everything I've read about them has been positive. I'll ping you re: skid plates.

Skid plates around the plastic transmission pan are a must. I was driving up to a pick up a deer I shot and a stick bounced up and struck the heat shield around the exhaust/transmission pan and tore it off. It made a terrible sound the entire way home. Fortunately I was able to bend it back and use some large washers on the bolts where it ripped free.

We're back home after two weeks in Arizona with mostly gorgeous weather. We camped in the McDowells and Superstitions, where recent rains left the entire area a muddy mess. Not looking forward to washing all the mud off the truck and out of all the flatbed nooks and crannies. While in Arizona we used our new Torklift steps, which replaced the cheap 3 step ladder we've used for the last year and a half. It worked fine but wasn't optimal and I was lucky to only fall off them once. I wasn't even drinking - just clumsy! The Torklift stairs were great and allowed our pug Huck to enter and exit without any issues. They're also a great place to chill while at camp. The only potential downside I see is that they won't fit in really narrow or confined campsites.

We spent the first 2/3 of the trip mountain biking, hiking and trail running. I tore a calf muscle on our last trail run which put a damper on the last 4 days of the trip. Pissed me off and am hoping it heals quickly so I can get back to the active lifestyle I love so much.

Shot a few photos for Torklift at camp in the Supes. I'm fortunate to have an attractive and willing model in my wife, Melissa. Huck isn't as cooperative but I do occasionally get to work with him as was the case on this shoot. Also managed to make a few new photos for my collection, including some light painting of saguaro cactus at night in the McDowells.

Unfortunately they only make them for 2020+. Looking for skids for the 2011-2016 Super Duty if anyone knows of any.

Take a look at Talons Garage.

Talon skids look much better than the alternative I had gone with previously(what a joke that other company was), but another outfit here in the PNW is working on F-SD skids and let's just say I think you'll all be very very impressed with them, beyond Talon's.
Will be '17-21+ F250/350 first, then '11-16.

PS--great captures Bret!

Ohhh, awesome to hear, having got a Vice bumper & Fahrt draw system I'm a huge fan of the PNW build quality, those guys get it right up there. Will you post here when they're ready to see?
