Something else nobody seems to consider, even if they own an electric vehicle and have real world experience, is the range the companies quote. "You get 350 miles at full charge". Sure you do, when the radio is off, nav. is off, windows are up, no A/C or heater, weather is above 60 degrees, and you're driving on a flat road with no wind and one passenger. Deviate from that algorithm and you're screwed. I'll admit Teslas and Rivians are SOOOOO much fun to drive (driven both), but they are such a gimmick. They have their place, and there is relevance to some peoples reasoning to buy electric, but it is not a reality for 90% of Americans. All day long people argue about cost of ownership, and its just not possible to compare accurately. Pick a damn car and enjoy, we all make justifications in our brain to satisfy our decisions regardless. Have you ever seen a 100,000 mile Tesla??? The answer is.. "Yes, Fox news and CNN reported blah blah blah" So maybe like 10 of them worldwide.
My strategy is to open a concession stand at the Tesla charging station off the 15 on the way to Vegas from SOCAL, good lord you'd make a killing. The average wait time to charge is 3 hours, not to mention the actual charging. A bunch of sheep waiting to be herded... laughable to say the least. The charging schedule there is booked out til pigs fly.
