I think it is a beauty and with the new floor and some items for camping this is ready now to “light out for the country.”
Some history. In early March 2024 a young man bought this Transit Trail off the lot at Damerow Ford. He wanted to build it out for mountain biking and van life with his gf. Soon he realized he was underfunded and put it on Craigs List.
I purchased it in early April with the desire to follow the trail to where it takes me. I turn 76 in July and with two metal knees, too may houses I have built, walls framed, concrete mixed and placed, gardens made, thousands of trees planted. too many miles Outward Bounding on both rivers and mountains, pre-ultralight. Too much setting chokers, too much playing Rugby and Ulimate Frisbee. Basically too much working and haveing fun. I want to do the build, but my body says it’s time to put my feet up. I have built out two vans and one four wheel pop up camper shell. The creative energy and the problem solving is challenging and entertaining.
This rig is ready for a person with fewer or smarter miles. Start out with just a cooler and a sleeping bag. Or better yet send it to an outfitter and go flyfishing while you are waiting.
This van currently has no problems with the front wheels rubbing.
Please do your research and have your finances in order. If you are a tire kicker only, I will have this Avalanche Grey Trail at the Adventure Van Expo in Hood River on June 22-23 and will be happy to show it to you.
