2024 Colorado/Utah Adventure MotoCamp Run. Planning

I'm putting together our annual Adventure Ride for this year. Looks like it'll be around August or September again and I'm in the process of finalizing the route. The run will start and return to the Denver area and be approx 5-7 days of riding and camping. It'll include several high passes, river crossings and some Colorado/Utah desert. You'll need to carry all your gear, food and supplies with you. This is not a super tough run but, you will be challenged. Any dual sport/adventure bike between a 400 to a 1200 will be suitable. Weather is typical Colorado high country weather and Utah desert weather. It's not uncommon to have sun, rain, snow, hail and a clear night all in one day.

Last year was amazing and we had the last night at the 3 Steps Hideout in Utah with cold beer, a steak dinner and hot showers. It was extremely welcoming after crossing the Disappointment Valley in western Colorado! So, this may be part of the planning this year.

Post up if you have any questions or are interested.

One of these years I would love to do that with you. I would prefer to do it on my ATV but I could get a motorcycle. I hope you get to enjoy another awesome trip.

Bet you can't wait to break in that new T7 on a moto trip!
Yep.......can't wait any longer! I've put a little over 600 road miles on the new bike so far. Next week I’m going to hit Section 4 of the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route (COBDR) from Buena Vista to Gypsum, Co. To get some “dirt/mountain pass” miles on the bike. I’ll camp somewhere in the middle on day 1 and be home by the end of day 2.

Tentative plan is to meet in Buena Vista at 10am on the 30th and head out. Ride the San Isabel Range. Hit Leadville, gas up, grab a steak to cook on a campfire and camp up on Hagerman. Head out the next morning to Gypsum, grab lunch and then hit 70 home.

Kinda excited but, being a new bike kinda a little apprehensive…..but, that’s what it’s for!

Grrrrrrr.......I know, I know.......It's just so darn pretty, I mean Manly.

I tell what. When it happens, people in four states will hear me and then all will be good.

Cheers.
It is a beautiful bike! You've done a great job with the farkles, haha! Is it 'done' now or anything else you'd like to add?

I got over my 1st drop the day I brought mine home. It tipped when I was unloading it out of the trailer when I slipped on some ice.

Cracked the fairing the first day I owned it. Kicker is, had I had the dealer put the crash bars on instead of doing it myself after pickup, it would've saved the fairing. At least you can't see it unless you really look for it.

Hey Brit. IF you find yourselves doing section 5 of the BDR out of Gypsum, you would be well advised to skip Trail Gulch Rd and just keep going north on 51. It's not worth the hassle of the deep talcum powder type of road. Some have questioned why the planners even went up this road as it can be a real challenge.

Good to know. Thanks for the heads-up!

Hello,
Have you completed the 2024 trip and if so will you be posting a report?
Just added another to my cycle stable and these kinds of excursions are exactly why I purchased an Africa Twin AS.
Thx!
