It’s hard to find SuperCrews with the 6.5 ft bed. I look for them for our fleet trucks constantly. Rarely do I find them, and we arguably have more trucks available to us than anywhere in the US. I work in the Permian Basin, and travel all over for work. Our lots are always better stocked than anywhere else when it comes to trucks. We’re not limited to XLs and XLTs either. There’s just as many Platinum and KRs sitting on location out here as there are stripped down work trucks.

I don't even see too many Single Cab 8 foot beds outside of uhaul and homedepot. I honestly think I've seen more SCAB w/5.5 beds than I have SCREW/ 6.5 bed. Sure all but one was a Raptor, but it still counts.

Does the SCREW cost extra, or is it a freebee? 🤪

You gotta work a bit extra for it, but I hear its worth it.

I’ve also never seen single cabs except Home Depot trucks. Local city trucks are all Supercabs with 6.5’ beds.

I owned a Scab with 5.5 ft bed for a little while. It wasn’t ideal, but it was a smoking deal and fit my needs for the few short months I needed it.

Look up here. The company across the street from us only runs crew cab 6.5 boxes. Mostly F150's but there are some GM's in their fleet.

In the small town I work, there were three 2021+ supercrew 6.5's sitting at the traffic light this morning.

Maybe I tend to notice the 157 trucks cause I own one?

Our city is an oil gas city and lots of people have RV's or toys. Maybe that's a factor?

Father in law has a 157, neighbor across the street has one.... Def see more 5.5's but I wouldn't say a SCREW 6.5 is a rarity up here.

What year? I am under the impression they went away for good in 2011 for regular F150s and I know that GEN3 Raptors are only available in SCREW.

@phsycle yep, they're super rare. Actually as rare as flareside beds, but I think those stopped during the 11th gen, so before 2009.

@Todd n Natalie yeah mpg could be a huge factor and the 3.5 is probably going to be more economical than a 7.3 but they're not so far apart as either. The 7.3 can be relatively economical and when you start getting up there with overland add ons I feel like it would still be more economical because it wouldn't be as stressed as the 3.5.

True. Depends on your use case. 90% of the time my truck is empty and just a commuter.
I really tried to make a midsize truck work for me. But with thoughts of getting a bigger RV, we decided fullsize was best.

HD trucks are also more expensive to buy and I've never seen a .99% rate on any HD truck.

A 1 ton isn't out of the question when this truck is due to be replaced. Just have to see where we are at.
Ideally, I'd still like to go down to a midsize. But if we're still towing an RV and looking to add hauling Kayaks into the mix, I'd probably bypass a 3/4 ton and just go 1 ton since aside from suspension they are usually the same truck. (As far as bodies, drive trains etc...)

I’d question a midsize truck even if you aren’t pulling a camper. Comfort level is much better (more comfortable the better half is, more camp outs we’ll go on), safer, versatile, etc. All the while, MPG is exactly the same.
The only time I wish for smaller is if I’m right in downtown (rarity for me) or on really tight trails.

I've sat in a newer Ranger and felt it was fine. Same with previous Gen Colorado / Canyons.
Better half is 5'2" and drives a Bronco Sport. She'd be comfy in a midsize.
I think the turbo 4's will be better than my half ton?
Plus shorter (can hopefully park in a garage) and narrower (easier to park)
Really the only way that would happen though is if we end up with a vacation property.
Otherwise, we'll still be towing.
The other thing I'm considering for down the road is an older / used 1 ton for the times I need to tow and another used small vehicle for a dd. (Brain says Corolla / Civic - heart says 2 door Wrangler JL.... )

Oh, the garage situation may be a deal killer for me. I don’t want to ever be scraping ice in the morning if I’m not at a camp site. Don’t want it if it doesn’t fit in the garage.
That might be Bob the Bed territory for me for the F150 😂

MPG wise, it’s exactly the same, at least on paper. Maybe real life may be different. But best case scenario? 1-2mpg?

Lastly, I’d ride a tricycle with a missing wheel before I drive a Civic again. 🤣🤣
Not to get off topic, but Tesla is supposedly cutting production costs in half. And eventually, Chinese EV’s will be here.

Are Civics that bad? I had a 2003 Accord V6 EX-L years ago and loved that car.

Not interested in an EV. A PHEV sure, but with our harsh cold winters, not looking for an EV at this point.

Civics are okay. Honda makes good cars generally.

EVs are good, hybrids are good stepping stones. Extreme heat and cold are issues but right now the big issue is infrastructure. It's coming along, but outside of a few pockets of north America it's not there yet.

Yes! That truck exactly 😂

I commuted for a number of years and put a lot of miles on Civics, a Corolla, Honda Fit. I’m just getting older. Every time I get in a family member’s Prius, I can’t stand it. The tin can feel, road noise, buzzy ride, and more importantly, looking up the wheel wells of every truck going by, I imagine what might happen if one of them tried to get cozy. When I was commuting a lot back ~15 years ago, there weren’t as many vehicles on the road and people weren’t as distracted.
I’m all about saving where I can, but I got too many dependents!
