Okay so I wanna get some new rubber soonish. I have a disco one will have a new OME heavy duty 2" lift.

I really like the look of the 255/85/16, but will that be to big. Or should i just stick with the 235/85/16.

I don't mind cutting fenders or what not. What are your thoughts?
Would I have to re-gear for a 255?

Thanks

Just here...
As said, regearing will help and you will definitely need more lift 4" would be the right amount. 2" is not enough. 3" is adequate.

If you only have a 2in. lift I would do 245/75s just to keep the ability to pass on the interstate. 235/85s look better on a 2in. lift but at the sacrifice of road ability.

Heres a post by me should be perfect for you!

I didn't regear and most likely wont. My gas mileage improved. I have pictures with just the OME 2" lift and its not enough. Looks like crap but surprisingly didn't rub when I took it off road. NOTE I didn't flex much.

Now with a 2" body lift it looks SEXY .... perfect actually. However i just cut the body lift to 1" and am awaiting 1" spring spacers.

I run a 2in lift with 235/85's. You'll want to do some trimming to your rear fenders to run the 235's with a 2in lift. You'll read that you don't have to, but trust me either you trim them or your tires will.

I've run this combo for awhile and use my truck/s pretty hard. I can't think of an instance where the difference between a 235 and 255 would have made my life any easier.

Thanks guys, I think I am going stick with the the 235's and call it good.
This truck will see a lot of HWY so I don't really need that extra inch.
Now to figure out which ones to get.

I've had BFG ATs on two different vehicles, never once got stuck offroad with them and they were awesome on road. 235s are the right choice :)

I run 235/85's BFG AT's on my D1 and they work great. The truck has a 2" OME with the rear fenders trimmed. While there is an offroad compromise in regards to traction in some terrain, the on road ride and performance in snow and ice is well worth it. I spent alot of years driving across the continent with Mud Terrains and the AT's were a revelation frankly.
