Hey guys Im new here,I have an '03 wrangler rubicon Just ordered a 2 inch BDS suspension lift, wondering if with the two inch lift and a 1- 1.25" body lift, I will be able to fit 255/85R16 tires on stock rims. If so are they going to rub with sway bar disconnected? Just trying to make a decision on my next set and really like the 255/85 but don't want any rubbing. If this may be an issue I am looking at 265/75R16 but am open to recommendations... Really appreciate the feedback and sorry if I should be posting somewhere else, thanks.

Not a bad idea i was just trying to keep the 16" wheels because it is a tomb raider limited edition and has the alcoa rims. The 255/85 16 translates to something like a 33.2x10 approx. Thanks for the help guys ill look into those 15" rims

Yep, they will fit and shouldn't rub even disconnected. I went to a set a couple of years ago (but wish I had stayed with 15s). For one, price of tires, but the second less obvious is the tread depth. For example the tread depth on BFGoodrich KM2 is not as deep in the 255/85R16 as it is a 33x10.50R15, so shorter lugs are not cool and it really seems like they wear out faster because of it. Since you already have the wheels, just make sure and read the fine print on the specs when you are tire shopping.

255/85 is pretty much the metric equivalent of 33x10.50. Interesting about the tread depth, but I hadn't realized that. If you're going to run them on the Tomb raider wheels with no spacers, the fronts may rub on the LCA's at full lock. If it bothers you, you can put a washer under the stop bolts out by the knuckles and it won't. Or you can just not steer quite to lock. :)

You may also find that if you haven't lowered the front jounce bumpers (not sure if the kit you're installing does this or not) you may get some rubbing right at the top of the fender, where the flare attaches to the flange on the underneath. Adding a 1" jounce spacer or tall jounce bumpers keeps this from happening, but again, that was at FULL Stuff, teetering on two wheels pretty much. :)

Have fun with your Jeep!!

I run that size with the OME kit and a BL with no rubs.

Per BFG's site 33X10R15 have a depth of 18/32 and are 32.8" tall. The 255's also show a depth of 18/32 and are 33.3" tall.

On my 03 Rubicon I started out with a 2" lift and ran a slightly wider tire (285/65?x16) anyway, it worked out to be 33x11.3 or so. They rubbed the flares under full stuff for sure, which caused some cosmetic damage, and rubbed the sway bar. To be honest the sway bar rub is nothing to worry about, just be aware of it as as suggested, let off from full lock a bit. The narrower tire you are talking about might not rub as bad, but when turning you will still most likely get rub.

I wonld up going to a 3.5 inch lift. My sugggestion to you would be to order some spacers and drop them in when you do your 2". Add some bump stop, as suggested, and you should be good to go. Should not affect your drivestrain and you'll have the tire space you need to keep that tomb raider edition nice. I agree with you about keeping the wheels.

You are going to love the ride with the BDS lift. My son has a 4" on his TJ and it rides far better than stock.

Good luck.

True, which is the smallest tread depth available. Even the 33x12.50r15 goes back up to 20. I went from 35x12.50R15 down to the 255's, because i used to run the old BFG 33x10.50's all the time, thinking it wouldn't be a big difference (don't know what the old tread depth was but sure seemed thicker), when you pay that much for tires and they look worn down from the beginning, its a little disappointing.
