I second the Stroker route.

Nothing wrong with the revised 0331 XJ heads. The 99-~00 Grand Cherokee 0331 heads had the cracking issues.

I have a stroker and have not had it running right yet. Runs hot and I can't use the a/c without causing vapor lock at only 210 degrees. 4.7 accurate power kit with big valve head, intake, tb spacer, header and 2.5" full exhaust. Power is great during the moments it wants to run right though.

1996 XJ 4.6L with 4.0 pistons zero-decked and ~9:1 compression. 0331 Head. Running great on premium and 25# injectors in the FL heat.
