2nd Gen 4Runner Security options

Thinking about securing the rig while on a hike or in a movie - I need a place to stash valuables that would prove overly time consuming for a thief to consider / be able to compromise. My 05 Tacoma had a Tuffy console insert - wasted a lot of space, but dang if it didn't inspire confidence - someone would have to steal the truck to get into it!

Has anyone used Tuffy's generic console in a 2nd Generation 4Runner? Is there a better alternative? Being in Alaska for a few more months makes security very important but I want the best solution possible and that seems to be a console replacement. Any suggestions would be welcome.

You can run the 6.5" wide generic Tuffy between stock buckets, but if you have the nice seats the side wing knob is sorta in the way. It rubs on the console, at least in my truck. For off the shelf it's about the best option to lock stuff up.

you can try a generic pistol lockable case like this:

the one i have has a plate that i can secure to just about any surface. then the safe will drop onto it and locks from inside.

just a thought...
