3.4L 5VZFE with Electric Fans (99 4Runner)

Uhhhhm- about the actual problem you're addressing: The water pump on a 5VZ runs off the timing belt, while the fan runs on a completely seperate idler pulley that LOOKS a lot like a water pump, since many vehicles have one there. I've seen that idler sawed off entirely, belts replaced with shorter ones. How many miles are on your motor to be on pump 3. Mine is still on the original one at 150k. While electric fans are nice, just take a moment to make sure you're fixing the right problem

Good point, and probably why the pulley on the water pump looks ridiculously nothing like a fan belt pulley. The miles are at 227,000.

While this may not help the actual water pump, it does help many other things, so I'm ok with the small misunderstanding. I also have a feeling that it's not the water pump squeaking like I have a rodent caught in the fan belts, but suspect the bearing in the tension idler to be the culprit. I'll know for sure when I pull the skid plate and squirt some lube on it.
