Expedition Leader
Flickr is offering a Holiday Gift promotion that gives Flickr participants access to Flickr Pro features for free. Pro provides several benefits:
-- Unlimited photo uploads (50MB per photo)
-- Unlimited viewing of your entire photo library
-- Post any of your photos or videos in up to 60 group pools
-- Download your original, high-resolution photos
-- Upload and play unlimited HD videos

That first benefit is just what you'll need to migrate your photos from Instagram to Flickr!

To automatically receive the Holiday Gift, use one of Flickr's mobile apps (iPhone, Android or Windows). You can also claim the gift through a web browser. Click on the gift banner on your Flickr home page.

The promotion runs until January 4.

A basic Flickr account is free. Pro costs about $2 a month.

I've never used Flickr, can you link to your photos in any particular "large" size or scale? Most pictures I've seen posted or linked from Flickr are quite small, no more than 800px or so.

I am looking for a consumer lever replacement to my SmugMug pro account, now that they've doubled their fees.

Yes. I upload all of my photos in their original size aka big. But it is nice to resize them down for posting on the web.

Yes, I confirmed that from the FAQ on Flickr, but what about "presenting" the photos? Can you display them in sizes larger than 800px default or 1024px "enlarged view? I'm aiming for 1600px width's, minimum, which is easily done with SmugMug.

Bigger photos have a punch all their own:
