I am looking at a camper conversion built on a 1997 Series 80 Landcruiser with the 4.2 1HD-FT Diesel 24V turbocharged engine. The rig is in the UK and appears to be in excellent shape.
I had paid a forum member $200 for 2 hrs of consulting helping me with the pre-purchase due diligence on this purchase but he has gone silent after accepting my payment.
So i opening up my question to other knowledgeable members in this forum.
I spoke to a local diesel Landcruiser shop and the owner asserted that the engine in this vehicle never had an EPA-equivalent certification and so could not be registered or titled in any state that requires emissions certification. I am a Colorado resident and would need to register it in Co. Is this indeed correct or has anyone else successfuly imported and titled a vehicle with this engine in Colorado?
Any help would be appreciated.
