45 Series Wagon

I think they dropped the price by about 1-2k from what it was a month ago. Its got a CA vin tag on it. It looks like the barn it was found in was over on the coast. I know, I live on the coast and bought a FJ45 PU once that was more rust than metal. If anyone wants me to take a look at it for them I will be up there for my grandmas memorial service the last weekend in Oct. I have some experience in buying old rusty vehicles(much to my wifes dismay) so know what to look for.

I could "save it" ..but I wouldn't pay that much for it.

Holy crap I want that sooooo bad...
I love the troopy body style but the 2 dr has always killed the deal, to have a 4dr that was completely pre-emissions and pre-safety anything, WOW that would be golden.

Shortbus if you will seriously be in the area I would buy some liquid refreshment to cover your time & effort to check it out. I am thinking that would be a killer project for me & my 2 sons (19 and 12)
Especially if I could get the price down a notch.

Let me know. I wouldn't pay what they are asking for it though. I will be down kind of your way Thanksgiving week and have a truck and trailer and could tow it down for gas $$. Just give the word and $$ and it could be in your driveway in about a month.

What would be a fair price? Of course I know it depends on how bad the rust is, but assuming nothing horrible?

I haven't seen the 4dr troopy body before, are they around?

They are around but not too common. Judging from the pictures I wouldn't pay very much for this one. It has what looks to be some serious rust. You can use some of the parts from a FJ40 for rust repair but some parts are FJ45 wagon specific. Unless you are very very wealthy and can pay for someone else to do the work you will need to be able to do alot of the work on it yourself too. I would really need to look at the rig in person and make sure it is just surface rust and doesn't have terminal cancer before I made decision on price but again looking at the pictures I wouldn't pay very much for it.

I think I would just be one of those crazies who despite the condition would still go after it.

I agree that price doesn't match the condition of the vehicle.

Just talked to the owner of the 45 and it will be going up on ebay this Friday.

He's pretty firm on the price but might negotiate considering he got the vehicle for free.

He has come down quite a bit on the price since I first saw it on craigslist. I will be up there Oct 30 and have a trailer. I will be down to S Ca and N Az the week of thanksgiving. Will haul for gas $$.
