4runner+Flippac

I got a good layer Of fiberglass down. I wanted to make sure nothing would move when I took the top of the 4runner for the final fiberglass session, so I ground into the topper around all the edges and put a couple layers of chopped mat fiberglass on, made sure to stuff it real good into the tight gaps between the board and the topper.

I removed the top today. Maybe I'll have some good weather this weekend and I can get a little bit more done.

The hardest part was grinding down into the fibers of the topper.

I ended up using a wire wheel on my angle grinder. It got in there with the quickness. And it leaves a nice rough texture, which to me just seems like it'd be something I want for good fiberglass sticking.

I also got the new bumpers on, I saw the weather was starting to rain, so I grabbed a rag soaked in WD40 and wiped them all down. I need to get some paint on them.

No pics.

Hey Brass-

Have you removed the interior carpet on the flip-pac or are you letting it be?
I have been contemplating replacing it all, but the sanding mess is deterring me.

I got new rear roof latches and other things for the flippy but man this can of worms can get as big as you want or let it right.

I have been ripping mine out. It was some nasty white almost shag carpet. Really fluffy and nasty. I bought a couple of grey carped rugs at lowes for 20 bucks a pop. I plan on spray adhesive and sticking it in there. That's all that it looked like under the original stuff.

I'm gonna have to sand anyways to glass the interior of the mods I made.

A wire wheel rips it apart in record time.

So, no real Flippac progress in the past months, but weather is beginning to get to be optimum fiberglass weather. So that a plus.

I finished painting my front bumper, and decided to do something about the ugly smashed in rear quarter panel.

So I beat the hell out of it with a BFH, then I got my hammer and dolly set in there. It looks quite a bit better. I then decided that in order to get it looking a lot better, I had better get all that chipped paint off. So I grabbed my wire wheel and proceeded to take off several layers of..... My thumb.

Ouch.

So, I've been really needing to finish this build. No updates though.

I am trying to get transferred with work to...
Australia.

If that happen this project is gonna have to go. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it prior to the move (if it happens)

I just bought some 4.88 gears for the runner hopefully it makes hills a bit more reasonable. 2nd gear pinned at 30 mph is no fun. I have a friend that used to be a mechanic that's gonna fix it up to pass smog and throw the gears in there. I think the previous owner got a hot smog to sell it. I didn't change anything and it failed because the timing is off.
