As was going through some of my photos I came across some that are a testify to the safety of the 3rd gen 4runner and to dare I say.... miracles. So I thought I'd share. This was my friends wreck and out of respect for him I won't go into the details other than he was speeding (90 mph) through a 30 mph corner. After leaving the roadway he hit one of those large piles of rocks wrapped in wire to anchor fencing. He then flipped it (cartwheel) at least once. From here I'll let the photos do the talking

This one to me is the most chilling.

The miracle: He walked away partially scalped and had some glass in his leg. Walked 3 of the 5 miles back to his house before a neighbor (who heard the wreck!!) came to investigate and picked him up.
The next day my friends wife urged him to at least get a check up on in head wound, and he relented (he's stubborn). The Dr. does and MRI on is head and finds a tumor. His Dr. says the accident probably saved his life because without it he wouldn't have gotten the MRI and they wouldn't have caught the tumor in time to remove it.
He has a reason to be Thankful for sure!

Wow, glad he was okay and what luck finding the tumor...
Here is a quote from a vehicle death rate report: "A more extreme example involves midsize four- wheel-drive SUVs. The Toyota 4Runner had only 12 driver deaths per million registered years during 2000-03. This compares with 134 deaths per million for the two door Ford Explorer and 119 per million for the Land Rover Discovery Series II."

Wow. Glad to hear your friend walked away from that!
My friend rolled his 4Runner after falling asleep. It wasn't a high speed roll, but it totaled his vehicle. If I find the time I'll post pics of his crash.

Thats crazy. I always figured 3rd gens would be horrible in a rollover. My buddy recently rolled his doing 50 and no seat belt. He walked away without a scratch.
