I decided to fabricate my own winch bumper for my 2018 4Runner. I mounted a smittybilt X20 with synthetic rope. The load bearing structure is made of 1/4” and 5/16” steel plate. All cutting was done with uni-bit drill bits for radius and 4” Mikita angle grinder with cutting wheels. Main structure welded with 1/8” stick arc welder and the rest with .030 mig. Final paint is Raptor coat in black.

Here are more pictures. Outer structure is 1/8” steel. Trailer hitch receiver is only for light duty applications. The other two holes are for access to winch.

Thanks. I spent about $130 on steel. It was all from the remnant bins at the place I buy metal. $30 on the weld on shackle mounts from Amazon. $50 on 4 inch cutoff wheels, sanding wheels and grinding wheels. So a little over $200. I probably spent about 25 to 30 hours on cutting, layout and welding. I spent a good portion of a Saturday measuring and remeasuring the front bumper area, frame ends and radiator support area and making templates out of cardboard. Oh the Raptor coat and primer were about $60.

It weighed in at 60Lbs. In bare metal. I think the winch weight is another 60Lbs. The plastic bodywork and crash structure removed was about 30 Lbs. So it was about a 90 Lbs. gain.
