4th of July Weekend in Hawaii...Jeep Style

Hi all,

I know this isn't actually a thread about an Expedition, but I thought i might try and post it anyway. Heck, it is about an adventuous Spirit!!

Mileage Plus was running an amazing deal to the Big Island, so my friend and I decided to take our wives. (For me, we decided two daya before wheels up)

We stayed on the Kona Coast at the Sheraton Keahou and made several trips around the entire Island in new JK's we rented for the weekend. :suning:

We didn't find anyplace where we could drive on the beach or do any off-roading, but had fun cruisin the Island.:rally_guys:

My buddy took the road down to the Waipio Coast and said he had to put it in 4-Lo due to the 28% grade. While he was doing that, my wife and I were touring the local breweries (Kona Brewing and Mehana)

Unfortunately we missed the recent lava flow from Kilauea by only 1 day...guess we left too early!

We did some snorkeling and other "touristy" things! :snorkel:

Anyway, we thought you might like the pics!

Awesome Bradda!

The Big Island is actually on my list of places to retire to!

Out near Naalehu ............you can head south over old lava flows and head for secluded beaches, including a green sand beach. Then to South Point. Kinda fun! Search da net!

Looks like a great place! Now might be a good time to buy! LOTS of foreclosures on the Big Island right now. Its a combination of the "vog" and fuel prices driving people away.

There are LOTS of layoffs happening over there right now. The tourism industry has been very hard hit too. We talked to a gal at a local fish house that said she has seen 3 peers let go.
