4x4 sPOD lighting issue

Looking for some guidance here. I installed an sPOD on my 09 Tacoma according to the directions. I then wired up a pair of Rigid Dually's also according to the directions. They worked fine for a month or so. Now I am having an issue where when I try and turn them on they only come on for a split second. If I turn them off and then on again they do the same thing. I checked all the connections as well as the wires to ensure everything was in order and there were not shorts and came up with nothing. I have them plugged into switch/terminal number 5 with the reccomended 15w fuse. I am no electrical wizard and to consider myself a novice might be a strectch as well. Am I having grounding issues for some reason? Do I need a little more fuse in the block? I hate when things on my truck don't work!! I also have plans to use the remaining terminals on my sPOD for future accesories so I desperately want to get this figured out now.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated and hopefully the problem is easily fixed and based on my lack of knowledge rather sheer stupidity.

I don't know what the wiring directions say for the Rigid Lights, but the lights should be wired directly to the sPOD. (i.e. hot wire and ground wire run directly to the hot and ground terminals on the sPOD.)

Probably not a fuse issue. If it were, the lights would not come on the second time you flipped the switch without changing the fuse.

Good luck.

I appreciate the advice. I have them wired hot to hot and ground to ground directly to the sPOD. I cut the normal fuse out of the line that was supplied just as the directions for the sPOD call for, another reason why I am confused.

Possibly a bad relay? I have one but can't remember if the relays are plug and play. Try hooking it up to a different terminal/switch on the sPOD and see what happens.

Also you may want to try hooking up something else to the sPOD, even a simple 12 volt outlet to see if it is unit wide issue or an issue with your lights.

I'd first try removing the lights from the SPOD and use a 12v test light/probe in the terminal you just vacated that should let you know if the SPOD is good or bad same for lights? If SPOD is bad change one of the relays for the one on the bad slot?

What Woody said. Try another slot, could be a bad relay. Or ground wire. Did you ground the sPod to the dual battery or to the vehicle?

Also, if you need a picture of mine (I have an FJ) I can post one up. I'm sure it is set up the same way.

After tinkering in the driveway last night I basically tried everything you guys suggested (geat minds think alike!) Ii switched to a different switch and had the same issue but then switched the relay and they work. I am going to try and pick up a test light (more difficult being in Italy) to test everything but it might have just been a bad relay. I have the battery grounded in the factory location and can't remember if the sPOD has a seperate ground or not. I will check once I get home from work and ensure if it does have a seperate ground that it is done correctly.

Thanks for the suggestions, I hate when things aren't working properly on my truck as I am sure you guys know.

I believe you just answered your own question,if a simple relay changeout worked just replace that relay. They are cheap and very easy to get. In hindsight the problem they were causing should have clued us all in, they start to work then don't in other words the relay closes passing power then reopens shutting down the lights.

That is why I posted in here in the first place. I figured it was something I just wasn't seeing for some odd reason. I appreciate the help gents and will be ordering a couple of relays to have on hand in the event I have a bad batch.
