Getting back on the bike! 5 years off of it way too long. Wont get into all the details, but have been dealing with issues that took away most of my motivation for life. Before, I had biked all over Europe, Mexico, the US..... even took it on business travel so I could explore and stay out of night life trouble....

Several multi week trips in Big Bend area draging a Yak trailer.... Saw all of Alabama, Oklahoma, Arizona, and Illinois from a saddle... Even raced at one time...

Moved to Boise to be closer to a launch point for the Great Divide.... Doing 36 mile round trips to work each day for over a year strait...plus my MTB rides....Then suddenly....the ptsd demon hit me. I gained weight, grew lathargic, contemplated just walking out on everybody....all the crud that steals your soul....

Things have to change.....

I had to break down this week and through a ton of ups and downs had to let someone else actually do the tune up....wife even helped me changing tubes because my aggitation level was so high.

In the morning I am back on the bike....knowing I will be frustraded....but hoping I can push through.

Have loved the bike as an expo tool for years and looking to return to bike based exploring....

Keep your head up PakRatt!! And keep the pedals turning!

I fight similar demons myself, and often just 'getting out there' is the best therapy.

Best of luck to you!

I know a lot about life changing events and trying to find ways to stave off chronic depresion. I ended up back on my bike after a long hiatus from the ol work horse. I've tried running, walking, hiking, and nothing seems to de-stress me like riding. It is so easy to just open the front door, ride down the steps and onto the street, from there it's any ones guess. I happen to live in a great MTB part of the country and really great in town rides too! There are a ton of good people on the trail and almost always someone to chat with for a few. Good luck to you man, and don't give up.

I dont know much about bicycleing but I do know that this place (ExPo) is a great source of support to those of us suffering from PTSD.

I was not far from chucking it all (in a bad way) and friends that I had never met stepped in to help. PM me if you need to 'talk'.
