Blupaddler, if you have a powerstroke, dp tuner will have a tuner.

99 is the bastard year unfortunatly. Theres early 99 and late 99. Alot of parts on the motor will rely on production date of the van.

Easy way to tell e4od or 4r100, look for a sensor on top of trans close to the bellhousing. E4od dont have the extra sensors. 4r100 do. They are essentially the same trans though. My 96 had a ford rebuilt e4od trans. It was a 4r100 transmission case with plugs in the sensor holes.

See the TR code? Says "E" = E4OD, I am sure. No biggie really, I am just going to buy what ever reman transmission I need in 4WD.

Id check the tag on the left side of the transmission case behind the transmission range switch and read that.

1998 have e4od
1999 have 4r100
according to my source.

It's a 4R100. I checked today.

Also, I went ahead and changed the oil and transmission fluid. Plus, I have a new vacuum pump that needs changing.

I am guessing it's been a while since the trans fluid has been changed. The magnet had about a 1/4" of gunk on it. Kinda scary.

Got to love the 7.3L. I got my 2002 F350 and left it stock until I got to tow my Wrangler once and now I am ready to mod. The DIY intake is cheap and easy. At least for my model year you need a piece of 4" OD and then an air filter from Nappa or Oreily (can get u part number if u needed). I plan to do an exhaust but not sure if I will do a 16 pin chip or a tuner. Both have advantages.

For 7.3 parts, there are several out there, Strictly Diesel and RiffRaff. I have only done biz with these two and they know their stuff! Just be sure to hit the forums on Fords (powerstrokenation.com, powerstrokearmy.com and others!) the 7.3 is an awesome engine with great potential - if you do it right! Do the easy mods first (6637, hutch/harpoon, ccv, frx, hpx..) and then exhaust and you will see gains of HP and milage.

Hi, do you mind to write in full words? And are you referring to psd or n/a 7.3?

Also I had my mechanic add exhaust wrap from the turbo back past the tranny and that knocked down my EGTs by 150 degrees. Well worth it. In addition he added a remote tranny cooler with a fan for slow desert off-roading.

The thought is that by wrapping the exhaust, you keep the heat in the pipe, reducing heat soak, thereby increasing exhaust gas velocity. This in turn increases scavenging on the intake valve side and draws more cool air into the combustion chamber and draws heat away from the turbo and such.
