I admire the trip and the miles covered but man you missed sooooooooo much. I'm not sure a month is enough time to cover that much real estate. You drove right by Glacier, Yellowstone, the back side of the Tetons, Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons, etc. And that is a short list of your trip south. Hope you can do it again one day at a much slower pace.

Our vacation days were limited, so we did the best with what we had. The trip was pretty scheduled as it was with time allotments for certain stops and segments along the way. We did, however, build a list from this trip of places we need to spend more time in. I did the trip again not 8 months later, though, but did it in 4 days instead of 7 ;):smiley_drive:

I moved this thread to the "completed adventures" area. The trip described doesn't meet the criteria for "expedition," which include

1. Primary purpose: Exploration in support of geographic, scientific or humanitarian endeavors.
2. Duration: Typically several weeks to many years.
3. Logistics: Detailed planning is required for environmental, geographic and geopolitical contingencies.
4. Route Finding: Navigation can be highly complicated, and many areas may have no mapping detail available, requiring extensive research and/or support from the local population.
5. Camping: Accommodations will range from remote camping to hostels due to weather conditions, security concerns or duration of travel. There also may be limited camping available, requiring use of local accommodations, hostels, military and church grounds, etc.
6. International Borders: Often includes crossing of multiple international borders.
7. Risk: Moderate to severe risk to personnel and equipment due to security issues or the extreme remoteness and difficulty of the journey.

I'd argue that this trip covered all of the above with exception to point #2, but I couldn't be bothered where the thread sits on a forum, I merely posted it to share the experience. :victory:

More regulations....!!!

I own a 2013 JEEP JKU and thought you were going to be driving it and was shocked when I realized you were in a sports car. WoW, I really enjoyed it....

Thanks for sharing...

I did like this post, and it reminded me of a 4,500+ mile road trip my wife and I took in her Mustang GT 30 years ago... Same kind of concept; high performance car and a lot of cool highways through cool places.

We're still married 30 years later, so apparently it was a good trip. :)

Fun times!

One of the best trips we have ever taken was done in my old SHO taurus.

We took nearly a month, drove more than 8,500 miles, car camped the whole way, and never left the USA

Coast to coast, and as much as we could casually fit in between.

All the while running nearly 500lbs over max GVWR :victory:
