Hello All, After hearing about this site on several other forums I decided to check it out. I didnt see an intro thread so I figured I would jump right in with a build thread of my truck.

I've essentially built this truck literaly from the ground up since I was 14. I'll have to scan pictures from the very begining later. These are what I have on the computer now.

This is about 4.5 years ago, GM goowrench 350 engine, th350, 203 transfer, 14FF rear D44 front, with 4 inch lift, 36 goodyears and a set of god awful stacks.

Alittle bit later getting a rebuilt 357 sbc, after the 350 developed a rod knock.

About 3.5 years ago with the stacks cut down.

Another from that time period

Then about a year ago I decided I was going to build it into a more extreme offroader. OFF with her bed.

Added a 31 gallon gas tank from a 80s sub between the frame rails. Makes a grand total of 71 gallons total or 852 mile range assuming I could use every bit of gas out of each tank.

Built a winch mount and rear plate with shackles. The winch is a Smittybuilt Xrc 10 rated at 10 k. So far its been a very good winch for the $.

Also I've moved the main battery to the back and am adding another right beside it. There is also an air tank that I have been working on that goes back there with the winch and batteries. Ill upload some pics tomorrow in the PM as I've just only got done doing some of that stuff today.

Since I decide to make it a more capable 4x4 the build has been going rather slow due to spare time, cash flow, a bunch of other projects, and to top it all off its my DD.

Since the first time it ran under its own steam its been thru
2 engines
3 sets of tires
4 front driveshafts (they seem to be the weaklink in the driveline)
1 lock out hub
2 distributer coils
2 Batteries
1 flywheel
4 or 5 U-joints.
And alot of tanks of gas.

The goal for the rig is to be able to have a comfortable expedition rig that can keep up with the built buggys on the trails. As you can See I have a long way to go.

Looks like a good start to a great project! The only thing that I would suggest is to ditch the blocks and get a shackle flip. They are fairly inexpensive, and get rid of alot of the rear axle hop as well, atleast that is my experiance with them.

Yes, it is on the to do list. I actualy have started on making one from a stock rear hanger. I've been putting that part off for sometime now so I can have everything here to do the shackle flip, convert to rear disk and figure out if I'm going to keep the thick overload leaf on the spring pack. And I need to have the truck completely at load weight to see if I need the overload or not.

Here is how the under the bed in the rear is arranged. There will also be a Viair 350C that will just fit between the two battery boxes. I'll plumb that into the tank with a pressure switch and from there run a line to the outside fender boxes.
