I have a couple of dodge 4x4 vans (not for sale) both are full time I personally like this system no hubs with sure grip you hardly ever have to lock in the transfer case it just goes, yes there are some quirks like the front wheel bearings and my favorite pet peeve the chain stretch but I am probably one of the few people that really like this four wheel drive system and wouldn't trade it for any of the others. Now if you have to use something else go with a ford 205 (married) or maybe a 241 from a dodge left side drop. they used it in 1992 or 1993 behind the magnum but it was right side drop 518 with t.case adaptors (318 internal balance and 360 external balance so you need the torque converter with the weight on it). Either stay with the 318 or go with the 360 (better choice) switch to a four barrel carb more power better fuel millage. don't go with 340 cool engine, to high stung for 4x4. go with leaf springs in front
