80 series wheels on Tacos,Tundras,4runners

I see a lot of guys running the 80 series wheels and my understanding is that the early wheels used conical lugs Lug centric) and the later used shaft lugs supported by the hub center (hub Centric) I think the 80 series has a 108mm hub and the Tacomas,4Runners,Tundras etc have use 106mm bore.
So what are you guys using?

Any problems running the later style?

I've been running 80 series wheels for several years. I use the same lugs that came on the 4Runner when I bought it. No issues so far. They do stick out further than the OEM 4Runner alloys. Click the link in my signature and you can see a couple of pictures of them on my 4Runner.

So you are using the shank style lug nuts/wheels that are meant for lug centric load bearing but there is a small gap in between the wheel bore and the hub right? any issues with them coming loose or vibration?

Yes, I am using the OEM lugs that were ment for the 4runner alloys. There are no issues with mounting the 80 series wheels on my hubs. When putting the wheels on the front hubs it is a bit snug but everything bolts on just fine. I have no vibrations with my setup.

Where are you located? Perhaps someone local to you would let you mount one up on your truck.

I actually have two of each style on my 4runner. Two are shank style, two are acorn. They both fit equally well, there is no slop around the hub. No issues when rotating tires. You'll be fine with either version. They're 16x8, 4.5" BS, 21 lbs. each fyi.

I have 4 acorn style ones. So I just bought a new set of lugs when I swapped them over. Only issue I had was clearing the tundra 199mm caliper with the 80 series rims.

I sold my first pair of LC rims to a guy with Tundra calipers. We test fitted it and it was close but fit...not sure which ones they were though. Shrug.

Good to know. I think I have the smallest Tundra rotors that were ever made(well actually aftermarket). Might be alright

If you are in southern CA, I have 265/75R16's on my LC wheels.

I had to take about a millimeter or so off part of the casting on the caliper. I just took a flap wheel to the caliper, only took a few seconds on each one to make it fit.

I have noticed there are also two different style 80 series wheels out there. All have the 5 spoke pattern but some have a line going down each spoke. Not sure if that makes a difference. (I have the ones without the line).

The ones with the line are the Lexus LX450 wheels. The ones without the lines are the LC80 wheels.
