My buddy has one that never had the rack. His does have the spoiler, though. He found another green lift gate so he can be rid of that, too.

Apparently mine HAD the spoiler because it has the three nutserts on each side where one used to be.
I guess I will look for a door also or just find a wind deflector and use the holes.
Anyone know where to find a deflector ?
Dealer said none available anymore so maybe a junkyard.

What color is your truck? There are a couple 80s in my local wrecking yard.

I wish my 80 had come rackless. I found something out the hard way: the OEM luggage rack on the 80 will support a lot of weight in a downward force; it will support much, MUCH less weight in an upward force.

Case in point: I used to use my roof rack to haul a couple of longboards. I surf mostly 10'+ surfboards, and I strapped them onto the roof, so that a section of the boards were hanging over the windshield. The updraft associated with highway speeds elevated the boards to the point that they were pulling UP on the rack instead of pushing down. The screws eventually tore right out, and I came within seconds of losing not only my rack, but two very cherished surfboards as well.

This, compounded with the rusty, nasty mess, and headache of sealing the (now completely stripped) holes against leaks, I envy your position.

I'd say to look up Quik-n-easy roof rack products. They are a Yakima-like gutter mount system that attaches via levers instead of being wrenched on with tools. Best part is that I can take them down in seconds when I'm not using them, and I don't have to deal with the howling sound at freeway speeds, my gas mileage is slightly better, and parking garages are less daunting. They go on in about three minutes.

Here's a thread I wrote about them when I picked them up. I still think they're a great product.

Thanks for the heads-up shahram! I have been using my factory rack for my 9'0" and 7'10". Neither of which I would enjoy seeing in my rear view mirror! I am lucky to be able to surf in my own "front yard" this year, so they have spent very little time on the roof:sombrero:
