Hey guys. I know i haven't been on for long. And unfortunately i am going to have to get rid of my 88 Trooper II.
Here's the deal. I bought it only a few months ago to be my daily driver. The guy i bought it from seemed legit and told me it had a new head and ran good. After my test drive i was ok with it and bought it. I only drove it a couple hundred miles in total.. but almost immediately had issues. The long story in shorter form.... The engine is pretty much toast.. I bought a newer car to get my reliable transportation to work and now i have no space (or money at the moment) to store and work on this as a project.
The body is in good shape. The clear coat is faded, but no body rust. Interior is ok. Driver seat is a bit ripped up. Somebody broke into it recently and stole my work tools out of it and left the right front pass and cargo windows smashed....
Tranny seems to be in ok condition, high low works...and shifts fine...
Suspension seems good but squeaks so might need a bit of lube..
Now to the engine.. Pretty much it needs to be replaced. The head was supposedly new according to the PO, however there seems to have been other issues with the bottom end. My diagnoses is at least broken rings on the #4 Cyl and in trying to nurse it home it over heated. I Havnt tried to start since i towed it to its current spot but i dont think it has seized at all.
Tires probably need to be replaced..... decent tread but one looses air and they all have a fair amount of cracking aroun the tread blocks. My tire guy said if i drive on the me mindful of tread separation.
So i think that pretty much covers most of the basis.

A note on the head. I think the PO bough and had installed a later model head and the mech was unable to hook up the smog pump. The PO had the pump in his garage but i had not gotten it from him yet. I don't know if the smog pump is still there. At this point i don't know if im pissed at the PO trying to cover up the issues or if he was just ignorant of the issues at the bottom end. Supposedly he only drove it a few miles on any regular basis and no hills.... I might be able to get the smog pump but no guarantees.
So my dream price i would like to get would be $1500. That would cover what i paid for it.. But if anyone has a reasonable offer and wants a project truck pm me....
or would anyone be interested in a raffle. I'll sell tickets for 10$ each. When i sell all the tickets i pull a name...... Anyone.. ??
