What motor and trans combo do you have? I am looking at a 93 pathfinder today. Anyone have advice on problem areas?

the biggest problem is frame rust/rot above and behind the rear wheels. They came with a 3.0L engine which although a bit slow, is bullet-proof if maintained well and economical, especially if paired with manual tranny. Rust is the biggest enemy of these trucks.

Wow, what a nice truck and tastefully done mods! Personally I wouldn't do the body lift unless I had a good reason for it. Higher center of gravity is never a good thing even when off-roading. The only time I'd do it is when regularly traversing places that require the additional ground clearance which is usually not the case for most expedition type travels.

Do keep us posted on the travels and progress :friday:

Well said nasko, and also if you do get an automatic transmission be sure to add an aftermarket trans-cooler the factory one tends to clog and ruin the transmission, and the steering is an issue but only if you do some serious off road rock climbing. but otherr than that i really like my 1990 pathfinder

Hi everyone great to see some responses, my Pathfinder is the 3L with manual trans that is the main reason I bought it, manual everything. I have heard great things about the manual trans, as far as rust goes your right they do have problem, but lucky for me this rig has no rust, but I keep my eye on it sense I live in an salty environment. I was only thinking a body lift cause I would like to fit a lager tire for sand driving sense it is used on the beach at least three days a week for surfing and camping. Recently I destroyed my steering, I blew a wheel bearing, tore a CV boot and all my tie-rod ends and ball joints need to be replaced. All typical stuff, but what ever right that's what we have to do, so far replaced wheel bearing all by myself, had never done it before and I am glad I did, took about 2.5 hours, easy. Any questions about this truck don't hesitate to ask.

Aloha Everyone
