Hello everyone, I've recently came across a 1996 Disco and instantly fell in love with it. The good news is so did the wife!!! :Wow1:
So my question is, is there anything significant that I should look for when driving, and checking it out? Oh by the way, it's a manual! I was so surprised when I saw that. If we get it I will post up some pics asap. Any info is appreciated, thanks so much!

The first thing you should check is service records. These trucks like to be serviced by people who know what they are doing. The next thing you should do is find someone who speaks Land Rover in your area (even if its a couple hundred miles) and get them to look at it before you buy. That drive could save you thousands of dollars, or from buying a lemon. Check out the electrical system, that's usually frustrating and hard (re: expensive) to fix sometimes. The things that will get you are the less apparent things. Some of the major things were up there, check all the fluids, where the leaks are coming from, check for any indication of overheating or head gasket issues. If it all checks out, you should be okay (for now)!

Does it still have carpet? If so, and it has ever lived some place it could get exposed to salt, I'd pull all of the door sill finisher plates. (I don't know that this is the correct name for the part, but it covers the door sill and the edge of the carpet.)

Mine seemed solid until I noticed the carpet was wet one day. When I started poking at it I found rust, then when I pulled the carpet out I found this...
