'96 Expedition Cherokee Build

We bought an XJ over the summer and started working on building an expedition vehicle; namely one that we can sleep in if the weather or other condtions warrent it.

So far we've gone from this:

To this (Click the pic to see the entire build thread):

We've got her pretty much where we want her to be. Of course, the next round of modifications would entail thousands of dollars: bigger tires, beefier axles, lower gears and body work, so we're at a stopping point for now.

Heading out for an exploratory this week, and with the cold front moving into AZ we might just get to test out that sleeping platform!

First, Welcome to Expo :wavey:
Second, Nice looking XJ.

Nice build. Good to see you found your DW problems solution quickly. I hunted mine for a year. Changed everything in the front. Even went to Adj Upper and Lower Control Arms. Finally read something about tires. Put the new tires from my Daughter ZJ on the front and ...gone.
Learned the hard($$) way, but the entire front end is new.

Nice site you have. I book marked it so I can explore it more...:peepwall::hehe:

AW-4 Master Switch Fix!

We did a few things on the XJ and added to the build thread today. An interesting project on the NSS (Neutral Safety Switch) on the AW-4, which seems to have corrected the problem of no back-up lights and sometimes no start!

How long and hard was it to replace the NSS? I have the same problem with the back-up lights on my 98 XJ. I could move the gear shift side to side they worked every now and then, but they are out for good now.

Welcome to ExPo and the XJ world. Went over your build and you're doing a great job. Can't believe how well the interior cleaned up. Also don't see too many Jeep builders in bikini's. :D LOL

Keep up the good work.

I just cleaned and re-greased my NSS today and I worked great. My backup lights finally work after two years of creeping out of parking stalls and confusing other drivers. Thank you for the great advice OverlandXJ!

OK I found the link, I don't know if my seats would dry out after hosing them like that. Nice write up thanks.
