Small updates! Been busy at work.

Found an UpCountry Jeep at the local jy. Snagged the rear leaf springs to replace mine. The old ones were tired! I also snagged the transfer case skid and tow hooks. Just need to get tow hook mounts. The Jeep I pulled it from was trashed up front. Ill have to go back to the JY and snag the front springs from the upcountry. The Jeep looks funny all jacked up in the back!

I also snagged the steering wheel to replace mine. Mine was tearing from all the gangster leaning the PO did.

I removed all the leftover padding from the headliner. Im going to add a second set of speakers to bump up the volume!

Where did u get the mold for the speakers u added.

Those axle bearings must be wrong. They shouldn't stick out past the housing. Could you get the c clip on the shaft?

Exactly! I may have to steam clean it if it gets too dirty. We'll see how it fares.

Out of another cherokee at the JY.

From what I can tell they're "repair" bearings. Meant to bring where the axle rides on the bearing outward. I guess this would be if your bearing took a crap and damaged the axle and you're planning on reusing the axle. It would bring the contact patch outward away form the damaged spot.

Little more progress. I found a spare TJ Mammoth Boulder wheel on eBay for super cheap. I also got SUPER LUCKY and found a brand new tire in the same size as my AT2's. Spare tire for under $50 bucks!? Ill take it.

I also found a storage box inside a ZJ at the JY. Snagged it for $10. Ill probably paint it and see if I like it in the jeep.

I started painting the parts from my stock spare tire carrier. I also painted a set of stock tow hooks I found at the JY as well.

More progress on the spare tire carrier. The bumper that the carrier was originally on was trashed. I found one at a JY and began cutting to transfer the pieces.

Oh and I got this for fun :)

More progress. It fought me a bit but I was able to get it to set right (or where I was happy with it). Keep in mind its for an early model cherokee and I have a late model. Drilling into the rear quarter panel was hard to do but I was able to get past that haha.

Awesome man great build so far. And quick! I plan on doing the same thing for a rear tire carrier. Looks good

All the structure is still there on the late XJs for the tire carrier? Or did you just use some large washers on the back side?

Thanks!

If you get all the pieces off the donor XJ then yes all of the structure pieces will be there as far as the carrier pieces goes. The bumper mounts and everything are the same (as far as I know) for all XJ years. As you can see I had to modify my late model to accept a few of the structural backing pieces, i.e. the pivot point on bumper. On the early model XJ's I believe that part was more open and the L bracket slid right in. On the late model XJ's it looks to be more "boxed" in if you will. I hope this answers your question. :) If not Ill take more pictures if needed.
