Sounds good. Most axle seals i used from Toyota have a bit of grease on them. Not a big deal if not. One trick i do is put some trans grease on the spring before installing it. The hammering of seal can knock the spring out of place. Again it's an old trick an old tech told me long time ago and I just do it lol

Yea we measured an aftermarket and like 2 remans till the new one came. The new one was bigger and sealed right up.

Kinda like the oil filters, I was buying them for awhile they never had grease on the o-ring, then one day they all started coming that way.

Good idea with the trans grease on the spring.

I like the saying the Mythbusters have "Failure is an always an option" I learned a lot with the past FIVE fails... :D

I'm curious, because I was also told that I couldn't get a new axle any more, but was it the pt number posted in the thread?

I looked online and found them, but I called the other Toyota shop in town first to see if they could get them. Yep sure enough they could get the new ones.

Both the reman and new were Hecho en Mexico if you are curious.

I forgot to ask what the measurement was on the new axle though, I'll do that when I call the shop to tell them it isn't leaking. Going to wait until Friday to make sure. I think it is good now. Because before it would be spraying gear oil only after 2-3 miles of driving.
