A couple front suspension questions for a 4x4

Not to hijak the thread, but, what does that mean? grooved inner boot in relation to lifts?

About to pull the plug on billies all around (front set at .85) with new leafs in the back (OME dakars). Looking for minimal lift so I dont have to worry about driveline angles.

If the boot touches itself while rotating (too much angle) then it will eventually groove or wear at that point of contact. This could lead to failure down the road but doesn not always mean you have a problem. Height isn't everything!

how are your boots holding up...grooved at all?...my Tacoma with 2.5" of OME front lift has started to groove my inner boots

My boots are still the factory originals too, same as the CV's. Haven't looked at them since the last time I changed the gear lube in my front diff, but they are still not leaking.

I used a Toytec diff drop with my 3" lift. Angles are much better now, but I don't think you absolutely need one.

Just an update...After about 30K miles post OME lift my driver side inner boot just started puking...

I think changing the CV boots will be a given maintenance need. I have a diff drop and new boots that still rub, and one clamp just started leaking again :\ A warning about Diff drops, well on my 4runner at least, it made fitting my stout skid plates a problem.

I'll toss in my .02 about the diff drop: I have one and it did nothing to save the boots. I think it does more to keep the CV's from binding at full droop than anything else. I installed it with a lift and it took about 10k for the boots to fail.
