A Day with Egrets in Cedar Key

Every Miles A Memory

I finally took a break from refurbishing the motel to go hang out on the dock and exercise the shutter finger. It's been too long away from the camera.

Sunday the weather was beautiful and the birds were in flocks behind our place here in Cedar Key. Cindy and I sat out on the dock for a few hours just watching and snapping some shots

Thanks for sharing. We like to go to the rookeries at high island and watch these birds breed and...get eaten by alligators.

I wish I had photos of the gator munching down an adult egret. It was something else indeed. We watched the gator come in from across the pond and then dissapear. That's when I should have got the camera out. A few minutes later...while watching an egret fret around at the waters edge. He jumped out and up the bank mouth wide open and took a bunch of branches and the egret back to the water edge. It sat there until the egret's head stopped coming up for air and then skillfully worked the branches to the front and the bird to the back of his mouth. All done and ready for another. It was the first time we took my folks bird watching. Mom and Dad were hooked. :Wow1:

Great shots. And from the dock! Have any Pelicans? We are planning to stop in for a night on our next trip down to Clearwater Beach to see family.
